Australian Music Festivals

Music festivals are an adventure in themselves. Australian music festivals, though not in comparison to Coachella Or Glatsonbury, are still very capable when it comes to music, sun, and dance. We're lucky to have year-long music bashes for all kinds of genres.

Homebake: An annual Australian rock festival. Usually an all-Australian line up, but 2012 saw a 'global' aspect, predominately Australasian.

Melbourne International Jazz Festival: The name says it all. "...with over 500 international and Australian artists performing and collaborating at over 20 of Melbourne’s iconic venues"

Parklife: Is a spring festival, held in September/October, and features world renowned, and local, artists and DJ's - For example Calvin Harris, Goyte, & Tiga

Soundwave Festival: Rock, metal, and punk. This annual music festival, held in most major cities in Australia, is the usually one of the most anticipated event of the year. 2014's line up includes Green Day, Avenged Sevenfold, Korn and Alice In Chains.

Big Day Out: Usually held during late January, this music event has consisted of  popular contemporary rock music, electronic music, mainstream international acts and local acts. Bringing together a huge audience and many unforgettable memories.

Splendor in the Grass: Awarded favourite line-up 2009, Splendor in the Grass is annually held near Byron Bay, as a three day event. Due to it's growing popularity, throughout the years, this music event has continued to grow in artist line-up, and audience.

The Satanist Review

The Satanist is Behemoth's 10th studio album, and the first released in 5 years after front man Nergal was diagnosed with leukemia. The blackened death metal album reflects the band's sound by opening with an evil, heavy riff, a great bass tone and of course fast drumming. "The Satanist" track is a stand out, reminding me of "Lucifer" on the album Evangelion. "Messe Noire" finishes with a slower and amazing guitar solo and another stand out is "O Father O Satan O Sun". Below you can watch the opening track, "Blow your Trumpets, Gabriel" and hear for yourself how Behemoth have not disappointed with this release.

For anyone who will listen I urge you to buy this album. Since it's release it has been number 1 in several top metal album lists, even reaching the mainstream billboards. It is definitely a favorite of 2014, even competing with the likes of Carcass's "Surgical Steel".

Iggy Azalea's debut album tops US charts

Aussie rapper Iggy Azalea has released her debut album, The New Classic, which has immediately hit the top 5 on the US Charts. The blonde bombshell currently sits at number 3, ahead of Pharrell Williams, GIRL, and Lorde, Pure Heroine. The album includes her hit songs 'Work' and 'Fancy' and is the highest charting album by a female rapper since Nicki Minaj's Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded from 2012.

This is a huge achievement for the 23 year old with many Australian rappers failing to be able to make a dent in US market.

Azalea has also found success on the singles chart with her duet with Ariana Grande in 'Problem' breaking Taylor Swift's 'We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together' record by becoming the fastest hit to reach number 1 on the iTunes chart in just 37 minutes.
